About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To explore Canada, make as many new friends as I can and spread Scottish culture and hospitality wherever I can!

ABOUT ME

I'm Andrew, a 22 year old guy from Glasgow in Scotland who has recently graduated from University and am looking to begin an adventure in Canada. I can sometimes be shy at first when meeting new people but I quickly warm up to them. I try not to let my fear of failing prevent me from trying things which is the driving force in my decision to travel for a year in Canada. I consider myself a polite, pleasant guy who isn't flawless but I love meeting new people, being exposed to new cultures, foods, ways of thinking. Ideally I'd love to meet lots of natives and non-native couchsurfers in Canada to enhance what will no doubt be the best year I'll have ever had!

PHILOSOPHY

I always try anything at least once. I also keep an open mind about anything and everything, I hate to judge things based on pre-conceptions without experiencing what it's like first.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I live with my parents so can't offer my couch to anyone as of yet, but after my working holiday visa year in Canada I'll be looking into getting my own place and will be able to host any couchsurfers lucky enough to find themselves in my neck of the woods!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet, never heard of Couchsurfing before until a friend of mine mentioned it to me just a month before I'm heading to Toronto as part of my year long working holiday visa and it seems like an amazing community to meet lovely people to share my experience of Toronto with and hopefully meet a few people who can show me around and stop me from having to explore Canada on my own!

Interests

I love watching TV, and my favourite TV shows consist of Firefly, Doctor Who, Breaking Bad, Suits, Game of Thrones, Supernatural, Community and lots more I can't think of just now! I also love gaming but that'll be on hold for a while since I don't want to waste the year I have in Canada indoors! I've recently tried bouldering and absolutely love it, would love to do more of it! I enjoy snowboarding, eating out, aimlessly wandering and I'm a massive hockey fan!

Music, Movies, and Books

Favourite movies that come to mind are The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Fight Club, Battle Royale, Inception, Shutter Island, The Avengers (and Thor/Iron Man), Serenity.
I love music of almost any genre but current favourites as of writing this are Ben Howard, Bastille, Of Monsters and Men, One OK Rock, Mumford & Sons, Childish Gambino, Frightened Rabbit and many others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Been to the Strokkur geysers, swam in the Blue Lagoon and seen the most amazingly clear night's sky in Iceland.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach people educationally in maths or chemistry or socially in Scottish culture, ways of life and more. Could teach to snowboard or help to improve people's English, I'm sure there's lots more I could offer that I can't think of at the moment!
