ABOUT ME

My girlfriend reckons I'm a cool geek and my friends have remarked that I always look as though I have just emerged from a jungle or desert. I am very well travelled and prefer the backpacker side of life rather than the 5*. I am not a suit type at all. I don't smoke but I enjoy wine. I like to keep fit and use the gym when away at work. I enjoy golf when I get time but as I travel too much I can't join a club or a gym as I am never around long enough to make it worthwhile. I like cooking. My preference in books is more toward non fiction; travel stories, autobiographies, but I also enjoy a good novel.
I used to think I was shy but it turned out that I am not.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe travel is a great education. I believe that the best stories and experiences come from events that weren't planned when you set out; just be brave enough to see them through and great things can happen. Don't be afraid of a few rough days and nights - as long as you are alive and well at the end of it you have a great story to share.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm new to couch surfing but thought it sounded like a great idea. I wish it had been around when I was in my 20's.

兴趣

I am a very visual person. I used to be a professional photographer and I still love travel photography. My perfect scenario is to be on a motorcycle in a foreign country in the middle of nowhere with the prospect of a good bed and a glass of wine at the end of the road, somewhere beautiful. I have a share in an old yacht in the Ionian so spend a few weeks a year in Greece. I have a motorcycle kept in a garage outside Cape Town so try to get back there whenever possible but I work offshore in various countries so am away a lot of the year anyway so time is precious. I share the flat with my girlfriend and it is always good to get back to her so she can join me on adventures when I'm off the ships.
