Обо мне

“One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.” – Henry Miller

After 13 years of going to school we both felt like we still don't know anything about the world. Quite the contrary, we actually felt more like our minds are full of useless knowledge and overflowing with preconceptions.

That's probably the main reason why we decided to leave our small town as soon as we finished the high school and go to explore things by ourselves. Just with our backpacks, our little tent and a small budget, but with a lot of curiosity to learn more about the planet we live on, it's inhabitants and also about ourselves.
Learning by first-hand experiences, with both head and heart!

It was never planned like this in the beginning of our trip, but now we already since more than 2 years on the road.

Our journey took us all the way through the Eurasien continent, from the West to East, and then to the most Southern point..
So basically our trip can be devided in four chapters:
1. Hitchhiking from Germany to Shanghai (~15 months)
2. Long-distance hiking + some longer stays in Japan (~6 months )
3. Cycling from Hanoi to Singapore
(~6 months)
4. "Working Holiday" and travelling in Australia ()

Что привело меня на Couchsurfing

Why are we travelling? To see the Eiffel Tower? The Taj Mahal? Or the Chinese Wall?
No, we found out very soon that it isn't really satisfying for us to play the tourist and visit all the popular places. It might be nice to do this if you are on a short trip, but if you are living a nomadic lifestyle for months or years you realise more and more that travelling is not mostly about the places and destinations itself, but more about the people you spend your time with!

For us the most interesting and inspirational part of our trip is to meet people from all over the world and learn about their culture, their different life philosophies. Finding new friends, be part of their life for a few days and just spend a nice time together. That's why we love Couchsurfing. It is truly an amazing community, we already met so many wonderful people thanks to it and recieved more goodwill and friendliness than we could have ever imagined!

Until now we didn't had the chance to host people unfortunately, because we lived with our parents before we started our journey and nobody wanted to visit our small town anyway. But in our future home we definitely want to invite as many travellers as possible, to hear their stories and be surrounded by adventurous spirit :)

We are outdoor enthusiasts and enjoy all kind of activities in nature and wilderness areas. We grew up in a very small town in a rural environment in Germany and therefore big, busy cities & crowded, noisy places are sometimes still not easy for us to enjoy.

Usually we prefer to climb up mountains, cycle through green landscapes and small villages, sit around a campfire, hear the beach waves, watch the stars,..
or just spend relaxing evenings at home with nice people, cook something together, watch a movie, have good conversations... these are the things that make us happy!

We want to live a simple life, minimalistic regarding to belongings, but rich in experiences and intensity. We really like the concept of not owning more than our shoulders (or our bicycle 😉) can carry.

Классная вещь, которую я сделал(-а)

Of course we've seen many stunning corners of this planet, various breathtaking landscapes and impressive cities. But probably the most amazing thing we seen and experienced as travellers is human kindness all over the world!

Учу, учусь, делюсь опытом и информацией

Sharing stories, ideas and happiness over a cup of tea, for us that's what couchsurfing is all about!

Чем я могу поделиться с хостами

Please don't be shy and just tell us whenever we can do something for you, we are very happy if we are able to give something in return!
One thing we like to do is cooking for our hosts. But be prepared that it will be vegetarian food, as we prefer not to eat meat ☺️
