About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Restore hope and happines.

ABOUT ME

Hi Couch Surfers, my name is Someth.

I am a Buddhist monk working more or less as a social worker in Siem Reap. I am very smiley. I like people. I work closely with people in remote communities, hoping to find a solution to issues of human rights.

My organisation HRND is dedicated to providing support for women and children in remote areas to help solve the issues of extreme poverty, education, and human rights abuses in these regions. My goal is to help these people achieve a more sustainable, higher quality of life

The problems of others are my problems. Seeing people sick makes me sick, seeing people happy makes me happy. I want to encourage everyone to follow the path of love and peace. Peaceful individual minds creating peaceful families, communities, towns, cities, countries, world...

PHILOSOPHY

Theravada Buddhist

Interests

I would like to help everyone if possible. I would like to see the people in my country pushing away the corruption, the misery, the poverty, the domestic violence and so on. I created an institution with the collaboration of other monks to help orphans and underprivileged kids to get access to education. We want to improve our society from the roots. Providing the children with the tools they need to build an appropriate future for themselves. Knowledge, culture, skills and morality in society are necessary to bring all the income generations the same opportunities. I wanna see one day no war, no poverty, no famine, no thirstiness, no ignorance and so on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hi ______________
Someth is very busy with work regarding improving infrastructure and community development in Cambodia thus is in and out a lot, however he is always welcoming and can definitely organize to host you (either at the HRND office or at his home in a pagoda) during your stay
The HRND (Human Resource and Natural Development Organisation) is a non-government and non-profit organisation based in Siem Reap. Its aim is to improve infrastructure and human resource management in rural Cambodia and provide support for struggling families and communities.
If you are interested in volunteering, Someth can also help you organise (as he helped me!) to contribute to local communities by teaching English at rural schools, including organising transport to and for the site.
Volunteering in schools requires no qualifications or knowledge of Khmer language, so as long as you have a good understanding of English language, teaching ability and patience (many of the students are regularly absent due to fatigue or helping their families), you should be able to contribute a lot to the communities :)
Please mail Someth if you have any questions; otherwise you can contact him upon arrival on (588)15535676 /12230006
more information about HRND can be found at http://www.hrnd-ngo-cambodia.org
Best wishes, Josh (an Australian volunteer) on behalf of Someth
