About Me

Hi there! My name is Anja...

I have just recently completed my studies in Marine Science and Geology/geophysics at the University of Auckland. Id like to believe that Im quite an optimistic, spontaneous, and adventurous person, who loves a challenge that can enrich my life. I'm very versitile, and love to try new things, whether that be skydiving, scuba diving, sitting back in a theatre, strolling along a beach, sipping back on some cocktails in a club, Or even just fluffling around with some cute pets at a petstore, having many interests means I can relate to more people, which is very valuable to me. I do extra work in acting and modelling, and also working at large events with set up, presentation and organisation.

The world is a beautiful place, filled with opportunities, adventure, and experiences that can enrich you're life in many ways. Though I believe sharing a moment or memory with another person makes all the difference. We have much to learn from eachother. I'm from a small town in South Africa, and recently migrated to New Zealand. Of course I love to travel, explore and meet new people. I will be travelling for the whole of next year; Africa, the Middle East and Europe... And would love the chance to meet people from all over the world, to share experiences with, culture, friendship, and the sense of belonging and acceptance into a new country. Id love to meet and give anyone a hand, and the chance to experience the country I now call home.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting new people, and sharing the cultural, and natural diversity in the country I call home. I like to think of the world as our home. It seems big and foreign, however; the wonderful thing is that, that all changes when connections are made across the world, where we can relate, and share experiences, it broadens our understanding that we are all only people, with similar goals, and lives. The world becomes familiar, smaller... And a gift we can all share together.

Ah! I'm open to everything and anything new, no limits when it comes to my interests. Things I can openly say that I love are exploring, adventure sports (scuba diving, hiking, skiing, rock climbing, kite surfing, hockey, quad biking, jet skiing.... The list doesn't stop), relaxing and hanging out with some good friends, the ocean is my life... so is art, Im a painter, drawer and sculpturer. I love reading, writing, even just hitting the cinemas for some action packed movie. Oh... And I also adore a great plate of food. ;)

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a bit of everything. Restrictions are not great to have in your life! It will depend on what Im doing and what mood I'm in.

My love for music can change from frank Sinatra, to Bryan Adams... To The beach boys... Or Fall our boys! Some rock music at a concert, or beachy chill around a camp fire on the beach... Give me John Legend for a romantic dinner. Haha... I love it all.

As far as books go... I love encyclopaedias, biographies... Romance, and action... Thrillers, suspence... Languages. Haha... I'm quite into James Patterson, Stephan King... and many more.

Movies... Again, I could sob over The Notebook, sing along Mama Mia... Indulge in some beautiful documentaries on National Geographic, be taken back in time watching Troy, or the Galdiator... Pearl Harbour, or sit back and laugh over a fabulous comedy feel good movie like the She's the man! I'm quite into the Game of Thrones series, and Hannibal... Lord of the Rings....The Amazing Race, survivor... Etc etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

...that's a hard one. I've had many enriching experiences. I would say that I've had the privilege to live amongst an African tribe, share my hands, knowledge and love in orphanages, I've also had the blessing of working and living in an international hall, where I've had the chance to learn and meet so many people across the world. Travels... All my travels have new outstanding.

Teach, Learn, Share

Ah... My knowledge and experiences I assume.

Id love to learn about you and your country... Haha, the food, people and traditions! I'm keen for anything new! :D

I can share with you the same about my own country, experiences, and memories.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A piece of who I am and why I love this country! Id love to share some good laughs, experiences and memories, whether that be hiking up the mountains, chilling at the beach, visiting little cafes, clubbing with friends, or attending fabulous festivals!
