Grew up in New Zealand, family origin is Switzerland though. Defining physical characteristic is my height, or rather lack there of. Like most Kiwi's I'm a friendly and easy going type of person, and am more likely to be seen with a smile on my face than a frown. I don't like to be a bother to anyone and can be quite shy at times. My Swiss roots have made me very punctual and a perfectionist. A vice of mine is dark chocolate and my favourite things in Switzerland are the public transport, the system of hiking trails and mountains. I came here about 7 years ago to check out my other 'home' and will be going back to New Zealand at the beginning of next year.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

At the end of July 2016 I will begin a 6 week solo hike around Switzerland and I thought couch surfing would be a good way of meeting people from around the country and visiting different places. I also don't have a huge budget so this is a good option available to me of not completely blowing it!

Interests

In Switzerland I have mostly hiked in Kanton Zürich and immediate surrounds. If I had to choose then Zürich Oberland would be my favourite place to go hiking.
Most of my meals I cook myself and I try to use mostly regional and seasonal produce.
I have begun to teach myself crochet and find it really amazing what you can create with just one hook and some yarn.

Music, Movies, and Books

A very hard question to answer – there are too many good movies, books and music out there! It's easier to say what I don't like.
I'm happy listening to almost all types of music from classical to pop, just not heavy metal.
I also like to watch most genres of movies from arthouse to Hollywood, comedy to sci-fi. Just no horror.
And books, I like to read english classics but also modern literature or fantasy. Also non-fiction books about places I've been to, historical events/people or ways to live a 'good' life. Of course I also love looking through hiking guides.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked 6 weeks around Switzerland by myself. Was around 680km, highest point was around 2700m.

Cooking together would be nice or learning about the region my host lives in, the traditions, typical food etc.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can certainly share a smile and a conversation. Am also very willing to help with what I can for the evening that I would be with a host.
