About Me

Couchsurfing is a community, not a free hotel.

Check this out:

San Francisco is a highly demanded region. Have a full CS profile and click on the link below to learn how to increase your opportunity for finding a couch:

It is more likely that I will accept your couch request if you have read the "Antonio's Home" section:

I am an explorer, adventurer, and sharer: I am energized by feeling connected with the world, and one another. My mind is very curious: always wanting to learn and figure it out. I am a good listener, and a direct communicator. I swim, ride bikes, and party like if I was in my 20s, while in my 30s.

I enjoy depth, surface and everything in between. I've lived in SF on-and-off for about 17 years, in Germany for a year, and in various cities in the US and Mexico for periods of time.

Every one of us has the opportunity, right, and responsibility of being happy, while contributing to the happiness of others.

Regardless, life just happens. Be your best, do your best, and then smile, chill and enjoy.

Agreements and convictions are more successful than rules and commitments.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

CouchSurfers have become inspiration, fun, and meaning in my life. With CouchSurfers I've done ride-sharing, joint-traveling, shared meals, pic-nics, bonfires at the beach, attended ancient rituals, games nights, participated in couchcrash, and organized and attended community and corporate events. I have hosted in San Francisco, LA and Mexico. I've been hosted in lots of places around the globe.

On CS I met Dina, Adam, Guillaume, Omar, Thomas, Jiri, Manuel, Maxim, Kevin, Igor, John, Morten, Claudia, and so many others, who are and have been important pieces in my life. Even when we met through CouchSurfing, they are now close friends, like family - way beyond CouchSurfing.

Bicycles, swimming, and traveling.

I worked in tech for years before running businesses in San Francisco that help people with mental health disabilities get jobs.

I recently spent 2 years in Guadalajara developing sources of income for women, and I just moved back to San Francisco where I direct a collective of immigrant workers who operate a business that gives them access to dignified work and fair wages.

I chair the board of a nonprofit alliance in San Francisco that convenes leaders and entrepreneurs across sectors and generations for using business to benefit communities, it is called Social Enterprise Alliance:

I believe that access to dignified and meaningful work is a basic human right. Everyone deserves the chance of making a living while making a difference, and I'm taking action to open paths for everyone in our communities to have this opportunity.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'll watch it all! read it all, and listen to it all!

I love exploring and revisiting new and old movies, series, music, books, random stuff online and offline. I love sci-fi or anything with lots of spectacular visuals.

I read anything from Atlantic, Adbusters, The Onion, etc.. to business week, nytimes, random philosophy, business, and computer-related books. I have an eclectic approach to media.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I won a silver medal for swimming 200 butterfly in the Eurogames in Germany in 2004.

I once ran into a guy riding a unicycle dressed in a pink bunny rabbit outfit while playing the flute. He was playing to a couple of dudes who were playing the drums while others were dancing. I saw it shaping up, and it was completely random, at the corner of 18th and Castro... only in San Francisco!
