About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To travel the US and explore. I have 14 states left to visit, including Alaska and Hawaii. I want to enjoy life, meet new people, and try new things.

ABOUT ME

I am a 32 year old woman who recently divorced. In my previous life I was a stay at home mom and housewife. My ex-husband was in the military so we moved a lot which seemed to fit nicely since my childhood involved moving at least once a year or more.
I spent most of my life in Maine but when I married we moved and travelled a lot. I have 3 children who are currently living with dad until school gets out.
I am taking this rare opportunity at my age and stage of life to travel and explore, with the blessing of my ex husband and family. I am hoping to find my place in life with all the exploring.
My first hitchhiking trip took me to Washington DC and I stayed there for about a month. I explored the museums, parks, zoo, met new people, and really had a chance to grow. I am hoping to have a positive experience again this time.

PHILOSOPHY

I go by a mix between karma, pay it forward, and do unto others as you would have others do unto you.
I always try to help others out, even when I am barely on my own feet. I know that everything will always work out, it always does for me, and I know that Karma is a big piece in that. When it comes to charity I like to know I am helping actual people. I don't donate to Goodwill, they throw out more than they sell. I will give things to missions and small charities who will either give the things away or sell them inexpensively so those in need can access them. If someone does something for me I always do something for someone else. More than one person if possible.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At the moment I am hoping to find couches to sleep on occasionally when the weather is bad, or when I need a good nights sleep. And I also hope to meet new people with knowledge of the area I come into, those who can point me in the right direction, or maybe let me take a quick shower and catch up on the news.

Later I will be offering my couch as soon as a have a home to put one in. I again look forward to the social aspect and also I will be happy to help others out, and learn about people who are traveling from all over the world.

Interests

I am interested in traveling, reading, cooking, watching movies, music. I love ghost towns, old mines and abandoned buildings. I draw and paint and play computer games. I never leave home without a camera attached to my side. I do some writing, make jewelry, make quilts, make various handcrafted things. I like picnics, hiking, museums, camping, learning new things. I love animals and have put in many hundreds of hours volunteering and fostering cats, kittens and various other furry friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

I read fiction and non fiction books. I like everything from Stephen King to medical texts and true stories about urban legends and stupid crooks. I read often and usually read several books a week. I have started reading more online lately as well.

I am pretty flexible for music. I grew up listening to 60s and 70s music, it is not my favorite but tolerable. I am not exactly a fan of the 80s, but who is. The 90s through today is mostly okay. I am good with hit list music, country, alternative, some rap, and a mixture of other categories. If it is just really loud screaming, then that isn't music anyway and shouldn't count.
