About Me

Becoming a decent Go player. Bringing down patriarchy. Getting through the collected works of Althusser. Climbing 7a on lead.

Err. Hm. I like cooking to electronic music, the Swedish summer, the joy of learning new things and acquiring a new language - someone's mother tongue or the accademic version - photographing faces, and being surprised.

I'm a libertarian socialist and a feminist. I tend to read a lot and I enjoy discussing the world, society and all that, not necessarily with people sharing my views*, and pop up at/occasionally arrange various events/demonstrations/things, even if I would always like to be more active than I actually am.

* but if you're a rapist, or a fan of Ayn Rand, please don't bother writing me. We won't get along.

I can't say I'm really a traveller in what I consider the true sense of the word, not like some people here... I lived in London for some time, and I've visited a few countries and cities and people around Europe. I definitely intend to do more of that, but I'm not really in a rush. I'm starting to feel like a part of some sort of context in Stockholm, which is also an intresting experience. Travel is a huge privilege and an amazing state to be in, but I'm doing my best to keep that sense of fascination in everyday life here. I'm doing OK, I think.

Everything is real. A lot of things are exciting.

"From each according to their ability, to each according to their need."

"There never was a Law or a Right over there; at that other place. I always knew it, and now, everyone does. Law and Right always exist only here, in our bodies, in movement, together."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

So far so good!

People. Nice-looking things. Politics. Cooking. Rock climbing. Language. Books. Photography. Baking. Movies. Long & random walks. Music. That kind of shit.

Music, Movies, and Books

Can't be bothered to kepp this updated anymore, and these names and all this namedropping really aren't as important to me now as they were a few years ago, but stuff like for instance:

Jim Jarmusch, Bernando Bertolucci, David Lynch, Ingmar Bergman, Fatih Akin, Two-lane Blacktop, Top Hat, Gummo, Don't Look Now, Wim Wenders, Lars von Trier, Le Balloun Rouge, City Lights, You The Living, Brideshead revisited (the series!), Mighty Boosh.

Lindstrom, Tom Waits, Burial, Bright Eyes, Youngblood Brass Band Shackleton, The Magnetic fields, Björk, Kroke, The Tough Alliance, Ytre Rymden Dansskola, Patti Smith, Jens Lekman, Sigur Ros, A Mountain of One, Alan Lomax, The Very best, Godspeed You!Black Emperor, The National, Arthur Russel, Amsterdam Klezmer Band, Kroke, Studio...

Angela Carter, Italo Calvino, Persepolis, Karl Marx, The New York Trilogy, Black Hole, Assorted Swedish poetry (Bruno K Öijer, Jenny Wrangborg!), Kerstin Thorvall, Allen Ginsberg, Selma Lagerlöf, Valerie Solanas, Philip Roth, Slavoj Zizek, Tove Jansson, cookbooks, history stuff.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd like to learn how to be a (better) photographer! I've been playing around with my cheaper-variety digital system camera for some time now, but I don't know if I'm getting anywhere.

As for teaching... well a ot of things about Sweden (& Swedish), of course. & I'm an OK cook. I make a lot of Indian veggie stuff right now, but other stuff as well. I really enjoy cooking together with people and teaching/learning stuff on the way. Also, I can introduce you to rock climbing, and if you're already a climber, I can belay you on top rope/lead. I might even know a few nice outdoor spots in Stockholm that are accesible without car :)
