Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I try to host as many Surfers, exchange stories, and smiles around my busy schedule because we are all surfers at one point or another.
Exchanging cultural stories and embracing cultures foreign to my own has been a very self gratifying and exciting experience.
I really enjoy traveling, meeting new people, eating, cycling, reading, and advocacy. I also enjoy leisure such as blogging, photography, and cinematography. I have other interests in economic liberation, politics, race relations, international development & sustainability. I love exploring!
Music, Movies, and Books
Films- Juno, Being John Malcovich, Mean Girls, Saw films, Death Proof, all of QT's films, gorey- horror films, comedy, action thriller!
Music- I listen to every genre...I am a sucker for indie, Neo Soul, Hip Hop, Jazz & pop! Santigold, Nina Simone, Matt & kim, Azealia Banks, Rick Ross, Lauryn Hill, Metric, Lana Del Rey, Erykah Badu, M.I.A, Tegan & Sara, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, P!nk, Amy Winehouse, Madonna, Wale, Lupe Fiasco.
I really enjoy reading autobiographies, sci-fiction, and am a huge sucker for a good ol detective story.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Two Amazing Things I've Done* ;)
My self published anthropological study on Gentrification. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00YJW1A5O
I've recently taught myself how to play the acoustic guitar and I used to play it on the daily!!
Teach, Learn, Share
I was born on the petite Caribbean island of Haiti, I can speak fluent Haitian creole, moderate French, moderate Italian and fluent English. I also have been learning how to cook new meals including south American food, and have been learning how to play the guitar- so yeah!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I will share my Afro-Haitian American fusion culture with surfers; the diverse cultures of all of those ethnic groups, I'll paint a unique illustration to how "haitians" are I suppose, the media tends to represent a distorted picture of Ayiti (haiti), if you're open to learn about my culture, I too will introduce you to my native tongues of Haitian Kreyol, and French, feed you delicious and flavorful Haitian cuisine (patties, bon bon lamidon, tablet, etcc ^__^!)
But more importantly I would love to learn about all of you surfers cultures ! Lets share cultures, teach me a skill of your origins and I'll return the fav!
