About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To expose you to the most diverse country on planet earth!

ABOUT ME

When I was in high school my family hosted an exchange student from Belgium. What truly amazed me was how disillusioned this poor guy was at what South-Africa was really like. We had a great time and were sad to see him go, but happy in the knowledge that his life experience was enriched by the short time he spent here. It was an eye-opener for me as well: it was the first time I realised just in what an amazing country I live. Life is all about the experience....

PHILOSOPHY

I believe the best way to live is in the moment. Of course we should plan for the future, but I'm not willing to sacrifice my contentment now for some future happiness which might never come.

I already have everything I need to be happy. Just look around you, the world is such a beautiful place!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So I have this extra bedroom and plenty of disposable income. If you have enough money to get your butt over here, I vow to feed you, provide you with shelter and show you a hell of a time in the land alive with possibility.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None. Yet.

Interests

I'm a mediocre guitar player in a mediocre band and I love it!

I ride my ATV into the mountains and just sit there enjoying nature.

I study physics informally in the hope of one day understanding how electrons can do work.

I gaze at the night sky and ponder my insignificance.

I marvel at the complexity of reality.

I eat cookies.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Rock music. Because it makes us socially aware and presses the right emotional buttons. Classical music, because it's an auditory rollercoaster. Indie music, because it's full of fresh ideas and at the forefront of our ever evolving collective tastes. Pop music, because it's fun even if it's just a business pedaling products to consumers.

Movies: Ridley Scott, Christopher Nolan and Quinton Tarintino's stuff

Books: I like going to the second hand book store and buying cult classics and then end up reading the unknown first-time novelist that I bought just because it was so cheap. I also lap up non-fiction like it's spilled chocolate milk. Teach me how the stars work, what atoms are made of, how to meditate, how paper is made, about ancient civilisations, anything! Information, why won't you get into my brain faster?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I dare not think of anything I've done as amazing, lest my ego starts thinking it's worth something.

Teach, Learn, Share

No conservatives or fundamentalist religious people, please. It's not that I dislike the conservatives, it's that they don't like me: you see, I'm a very liberal, open-to-anything-Buddhist. If you can't accept that, we'll both be better off avoiding each other.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My perspectives. My ever-changing opinions. My culture. My piece of the puzzle.
