Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Getting to know people as they really are - which you really can't do by staying in a hotel or hostel. Unfortunately I have not been able to travel much lately, but hope to again very soon. In the meantime, I am happy to host you if at all possible. Please just ask :) So although I signed up for CS a couple years ago, I am really still a newbie.

Music, Movies, and Books

-- I guess my favorite book should be my own ;) I read a lot of literature and non-fiction, too. Some of my favorite authors are Theodor Fontane, Gerald Durrell, Christa Wolf, Angelika Schrobsdorff, Herta Müller ... and the American cartoonist of "The Far Side", Gary Larson.
-- I enjoy a wide variety of music, from early Baroque to Punk Rock and even some rap. Some artists I especially like are Judith Holofernes, Wir Sind Helden, Jennifer Rostock, Katzenjammer, Tegan & Sara, Marina & the Diamonds, Metric, Felix (and Fanny) Mendelssohn, Franz Josef Haydn, late-period Beethoven, Robert Schumann, sometimes Richard Wagner, but Johannes Brahms not so much, and certainly not Franz Liszt.
-- Movies? Favorites are Das Leben der Anderen (english: Lives of Others), Cloud Atlas (the book, too), Die fetten Jahre sind vorbei (english: the Educators), and many more, including comedians such as Eddie Izzard.
