Live an extraordinary life.
I'm just a guy who finished school early. Since then, I've been traveling around the world. I've backpacked through Southeast Asia and South America. I have many crazy travel stories to share (riots, rabies, headhunters, snakes, landmines, refugee villages, Thai hospitals, crocodiles, car accidents, Hare Krishna communes, etc.)
Learning from others is the best way to learn. Sharing with others is the best way to teach.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm new to this but I hope to participate much more in the future.
I'm new to CouchSurfing but during my travels through Southeast Asia, South America, and Australia I stayed with local people when I got the opportunity. In Thailand, I lived for two weeks with a family who were kind enough to invite me into their home while I was studying Thai. In Ecuador, I lived in a village of Shuar people for a month and "paid" my rent with manual labor and English lessons.
Nothing makes me happier than SCUBA diving. Obviously, I love traveling. I also enjoy surfing, whitewater rafting, kayaking, camping, taking photos, watching films, and reading.

Music, Movies, and Books
To keep the booklist short I'll just list authors I like: Michael Chabon, Thomas Pynchon, George Orwell, Jack Kerouac, Hunter S. Thompson, Chuck Palahniuk, Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, Douglas Adams, J.D. Salinger, John Krakaeur, Paul Auster, Mark Twain, Walt Whitman, and Kurt Vonnegut.
Music: I like "indie" rock, folk, and jazz the best but I listen to pretty much everything.
Movies: I love movies! I will watch anything from 70's exploitation films to Ingmar Bergman films. French New Wave and Classic Hollywood are probably my favorite genres.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Diving with a school of hammerhead sharks in the Galapagos has to be the most amazing experience of my life.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach basic Spanish and very basic Thai. I can tell you a bit about edible plants of the Amazon rainforest. I can tell you basic commands used when riding elephants in Laos (probably not very practical, but you never know). I can help plan and plant an organic garden. I can tell you about Buddhist, Hare Krishna, Shuar, and Quechua philosophies. I can also tell you pretty much anything about film history.
Countries I’ve Visited
Australia, Bahamas, Cambodia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Laos, Peru, Thailand
