ABOUT ME

I teach college in Yola, Nigeria. I share a big place with another teacher. I just became a grandfather to baby Sofi. In July I'll be a certified old cat. I grew up traveling; my father was an army officer. I'm a writer and I have stories and essays I'm working on. In the summers I'll be collecting material for work during the year. I have grown children and a base in Denver, Colorado.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm from the Helping-Out School and I don't think I'm doing enough in that category. I'm trying to live my life a bit more mindfully, breath a little, and it seems I am doing that. Lots of teachers out there and hopefully I'm awake enough to recognize them.

I can start by sharing my place with travelers, though we're kind of out in the sticks.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Some but not much of this kind of experience.I recently stayed with the father of one of my former US Moroccan students (in Kenitra). Three generations in one house.

Interests

I like languages and intend to do a travel collection involving going to language schools all over the world.I also like taking pictures.

Music, Movies, and Books

Eclectic tastes in music and film, all the arts. Though I'm not a big fan of TV. Mostly because I just have other things to do.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The first amazing thing I've done is have children. The second amazing thing I've done is watch my own children grow up and have lives, children, suffer, succeed.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know a lot about writing - all kinds, from fiction to journalism to corporate schlock, and I can help folks who might need a hand with theirs. I know something about life, too, but also that I don't know much.
