Travel throughout Southern Mexico for the time being.
I'm an illustrator/comic artist hailing from Monterrey, México. I'm a bit of a nut.
Learn as much as you can from everything and everyone. Be as open and compassionate to other people as possible. Be kind, always be kind. You don't need a reason to help others. Do not tolerate injustice of any kind.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I would like to begin to document my first travel experiences and hopefully offer a couch for other travelers, as well. I'd like to expand my horizons.
I'm pretty new to the concept of couch-surfing and traveling in general, but here's what little experience (I think) I have:
My father's side of the family from my grandfather backwards are from the United States. I spent summers/winters growing up in the US with my grandfather and cousins and have never quite fit into any of the two countries' cultures. People usually ask me if I'm a foreigner wherever I am.
As a young man I spent months at a time with a cousin in Guadalajara. I didn't realize until that point how different things can be even in different places of the same country. I'm pretty used to adapting to new spaces and people different than me.
I connect pretty easily with foreigners and visitors, this partly out of an intense curiosity I've fostered since my early youth and also because there is a certain sense of kinship I feel for outsiders because of my own situation.
Art, comics, films, music, literature, monsters, myths and legends, ancient history, food, foreign cultures, the list could go on, really.
Music, Movies, and Books
Music: The list is far too long but I'm currently very much into The Mountain Goats, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, Hugh Laurie, City & Colour, Mew, Arrah and the Ferns, Alt-J, Titus Andronicus, Old Crow Medicine Show, Animals as Leaders, and the list goes on and on, and on...
Movies: Horror, Drama, Adventure, anything by the Coen Brothers, Guillermo del Toro, Sofia Coppola or Nicolas Winding Refn.
Books: Recently I started reading A Study in Scarlet by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I've also read and enjoyed works by Truman Capote, Robert E. Howard, Mary Shelley, H.P. Lovecraft and Chuck Palahniuk. Admittedly I'm still very lacking in reading experience, but I'm getting more and more interested in it the more books I read.
