following my dream of being a photographer
Spent 15+ years in the corporate world and finally pursuing my passion of being a photographer and loving every minute of life. I have a rather adventurous streak and have jumped out of airplanes, been to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and the top of Pikes Peak. I have even paid good money to learn how to wrestle alligators.
Right up there with my love and passion for photography is an unquenchable thirst for travel and meeting new people.
I tend to think outside of the proverbial box, however, I am still a rather well grounded Christian. I live my life looking to enjoy as many new things as possible, make great new friends and share my zeal for living life to its fullest.
As a Christian, I understand there are other points of view in the world. I do not believe in forcing anyone into seeing things the way I. However, I am always open to a good open-minded conversation.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
At this point I do not own a home to offer my couch for other surfers, but looking forward meeting new people along the way.
I have a few but they are more of friendships created. An example was a super long hike into see Havasu Falls in the Grand Canyon. I packed way to much and what I thought was going to be about a 4 hour hike was over 8. To say the least I was wiped out. I could have just laid there and slept but I really needed to set up my tent. Over comes Brian who had just made the hike in that day with his 2 sons. He offered to help and it was MORE than needed, let alone appreciated.
Over the next 2 days we shared stories and I happened to catch a GREAT shot of him and his one son sitting at the bottom of the falls and it now hangs on his wall.
So, on my travels back I stopped and stayed at his house for a night. So, even though we had not known each other that long, staying there was more like staying with a friend vs. the more typical couch surfer.
hiking, kayaking, snorkeling, sky diving, bird watching and the list goes on.

Music, Movies, and Books
Mumford and Sons to Enya to The Doors. Life of Pi to Fast and Furious.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I hate to say this but I have done and seen a rather long list of amazing things. Had a bear come into our campsite as a 16yr old boy scout. I have learned how to wrestle alligators. Havasu and Mooney falls (about a mile apart form each other) and then Upper Antelope Canyon... All great stories you should ask about.
Teach, Learn, Share
First, I love to learn and share! I think the more you learn, the easier it is to meet and get to know new people given some interesting or mutual connection there might be.
As for sharing, I do have a talent for photography. I have taught many classes and most of the time its to moms looking to take better photos of their kids. Maybe its just tips on taking a better sunset photo. Count me in to share!
As for learning, I like to find things that are people's favorites and experiencing them. Some friends from England love baked beans on their toast for breakfast. Never thought to try that, but if it's their favorite, then why not.
