About Me

CURRENT MISSION

living in Norway, in Geilo, a ski resort in the mountains between Oslo and Bergen, married with 2 kids

ABOUT ME

I am married to a Norwegian lass, have 2 little girls, 4 and 6 as of 2008.
We live in Geilo, which is a sleepy little town of around 2500 people in the mountains on the train route from Oslo to Bergen. In winter it is a ski resort with a focus on snowboarding and kite skiing/boarding. The 'Vidda' here is world reknown for the brilliant conditions for cross country skiing and kite skiing.
In the summer, there is golf, biking (from Finse to Flåm is excellent and they rent bikes here) glacier tours at Finse and rafting at Dagali.(give my mate William a call at Serious Fun, he speaks English).
Pretty relaxed nightlife, some small pubs amd hotel bars, bowling but not a real 'Party town'.
I prefer to kick back on the verandah which looks out over the town and the mountain 'Hallingskarvet' and take a few beers and a BBQ.
We can ski to the front door in Winter and the guys who run the ski hire at Geilolia Skisenter are Aussies.
If anyone wants to crash on the couch, no worries but contact us first so we can set up the bed in the Verandah room (it overlooks the town, big glass sliding door, coolest room in the house) Easiest to get here by train, let us know and we can pick you up at the station.
Like I said, we are a family with small kids so take that into account, but we want the kids to meet people from all over the world and work on their English skills.
We can help out for a few days at a time, the only rule is that when we are out of the house, so is the surfer
Cheers and happy travelling (now my feet are itchy)

PHILOSOPHY

enjoy others happiness
we create our own luck
don't eat the yellow snow
don't make your mind up till you've tried......

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm boring and old but can provide a bed (2 if needed)
my travelling days are over for now, gotta wait till the kids grow up......
I can relate to couch surfing, I relied a lot on others hospitality when I was backpacking and dossed on a lot of floors and couches, so being a big believer in Karma, I figure I should do my bit.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

All over Australia and Europe and the U.S when I was young, single and carefree....
