want to live life as it is. footloose and fancy free.
I am a nomad, but in my own country. I studied films, but dont want to make documentaries. I believe that cinema was born to tell stories. I am a fictionalist. I am middle aged, but on the youth side. I have equal regard for man and animal, and believe they are part of the same picture. I am single, but like to think that the world is my family. I love to write, and think that the art of the novel is the profoundest. I prefer silence and music, over noice and inane chatter. I believe that when you are travelling, you dont want to reach home. I love to meet people who dont speak my language, and I, theirs. Cheers.
Live and let live. Religion is something not organised. The nature of the Nature is to give, not take. And flower power is the strongest. If one is not a vegetable, travel is his creed.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Couch Surfing is not new to me. at least not in such an organised form. Neither is the concept of Community building. I come from a land, which has always had a big heart for strangers. I like the idea behind couch surfing. I dont have a fixed couch anywhere, but a ground to sleep, everywhere.
I lived in Chennai for many years, in a big old house. Being a film maker brought me in contact with many many people. I have had many friends and strangers from around the world , stay with me. I am also from Varanasi, where I have a house by the ghats of the Ganges river. I have hosted many foreign friends, who couldnt afford a lodge. I learnt from them, and revelled in their company. All this , before I even knew of CS. I really like the concept.
Films, music, cooking, books, romantic idealism in thought, a good game of chess, and loads of bohemia. All in that order.
Music, Movies, and Books
I like fiction in cinema. I grew up on American cinema and its Indian counter part. Then the European films corrupted my innocence. Finally Satyajit Ray made me see light. Music for me in my youth, was all sixties. All climaxed in Woodstock. Then I was all for the great music directors of the Hindi films, that i bunked clases to see. Later in film school, some great teachers opened my ears to classical music, both western and Indian. Right now, just give me music. Books, give me any.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
None. Ah yes. I was living in Chennai, in a house by the sea. I was visited by the Tsunami. Other than that, well, I have met some amazing people.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have wonderful stories to say of my country. I have a valid opinion of the others. But i believe a relationship, even that with a stranger, is based on the premise of understanding that the gap between , is superficial. Its one world, and as Lennon said, imagine there's no country. All life is precious, but the same.
