I recently started to change the course of my PhD project in the field of intelligent systems, encompassing information technology with a focus on artificial intelligence and robotics. During the last year, I realized that writing a thesis in order to come to a technical solution for a seemingly technical problem was not satisfying or something that I want to stuck to much longer. Right now I want to explore the interconnection of informatics and society. How does the use of technology shape society, how is the use of technology an expression of the way our society works fundamentally. I want to explore the emancipatory, utopian potential of an ecological technology.
Besides this professional background I like to do a lot of things with varying enthusiasm. I like to engage in projects with other people and have been for example volunteering for a sea rescue NGO active in the mediterranean. I like to socialize, listen to music, go to concerts, recently started to play drums with friends, engage in grassroot, self-organized activism. I consider myself a feminist and try to be mindful of others around me.
Well, I hope this information provide a first superficial glimpse and vague idea of my personality.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I symphasize with with the idea of sharing basic ressources like living spaces among people based on more or less self-organization.
Music, Movies, and Books
Some books I enjoyed recently: Ursula K Le Guin - the dispossesed, the left hand of darkness, Iain Banks - the culture books, Murray Bookchin - the ecology of freedom. I like all kinds of music, from electronic over punk, post-hardcore to 80s and indie. German folk music is a no-go though. Movies that impressed me recently; Moonlight, I Am Not Your Negro, Arrival. I really like the work of Wes Anderson and Xavier Dolan.
