ABOUT ME

Well, I'm 21 years old, and currently attending a community college here in Buffalo, New York. I've been working at this coffee shop for the past three years, and have been taking care of an elderly woman for about a year and a half. I'm involved with Food Not Bombs, and love to cook deliscious vegan food for other people, to help out in my community. I write poetry, but should be writing more seriously than I actually do, and I do readings at least once a month at this little indie book store. I like basement shows, piercings, and people who are individual and open minded. I don't drive, and probably never will (moral objection) so I ride my bike everywhere. I'm technically a Christian, but radically different than any other Christian that I know, and try to be as non-judgemental as I possibly can be in this world. My friends have described me as a hippie, a punk, a radical, a peacenik, and a communist (semi-jokingly), but I guess that you would have to meet me to find out.

In May, my lease is up, and school will be done with, so I plan on travelling for a while. Right now, I'm just weighing my options on places to stay, go, etc, so thought I would join this site and see what this thing is all about. Hopefully, I'll meet up with some cool folks along the way.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My roommate and I spent five days in DC with nowhere to sleep and very little money. Through the kindness of some of the people that we met in the community, we had food and a place to stay every single night we were there. It was a wonderful experience, because each night we were uncertain of what was going to happen.

Personally, I have had alot of people couch surf with me. Mostly, it was people who were hard up at the time and really just needed a place to stay. I was happy to open up my home, and will be happy to share in the future as well.

Interests

Reading, writing, poetry, drawing, music, sewing, hemp, politics, activism, biking, food not bombs, non-conformity, piercings, philosophy, religion, veganism...and lots of other things that I can't think of at the moment.

Music, Movies, and Books

Hmm...I don't really watch a whole lot of movies, but my favorite would have to be Requiem for a Dream.

Music is ecclectic at best. I like emo a whole lot, and I really like bluegrass, folk, and punk. Other than that, it's a bunch of missceleaneous bands that have caught my ear at one point or another.

Books...heh. Lots of them, but lately, it's been anything that has some deeper meaning behind it. I really like George Orwell, and lately have been reading more and more about politics and being politically active. Plus, the Bible. Hey- it really is a good book.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Rainbow Gathering last summer was hands down the most amazing experience of my life. Well...one of the most amazing, but you get the idea.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can cook, and like to teach other people how to cook healthy, nutritional, vegan meals for cheap.

I would love for someone to help me learn how to play the guitar. It sounds silly, but it's true.
