ABOUT ME

although i live in berkeley now, i am from louisville, ky...will most likely move back there soon and make that my homebase again...planning to start teaching ESL overseas for six months at a time, then returning to my Kentucky home for the rest of the year enjoying my family there, cycling, hiking, backpacking and real estate investing.

Secret to happiness according to Krishnamurti is that he's ok with whatever comes his way...when I'm traveling, it's so easy to be in that go-with-the-flow, timelessness we knew as babes...no destination..only a ride on the river of life that makes every day feel new, alive, vibrant! try as i do, i have yet to figure out how to have that road atti2d and stay put. Any suggestions?

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

one on one, i can talk your ear off...however, in a crowd of over 4-5 people, I tend to turn into a fly on the wall and jus watch everyone and listen.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Mucho, though not formally on this site until today. I had a book called "hospitality exchange" that I still used up til a couple of years ago when a lady in oakland graciously housed me and my pup for a week while we went apartment hunting.

I've traveled much and seen most amazing sites! However, the most amazing thing I have ever seen is my lil dog, Bear, stay so kind and loving no matter how irritating I could be to him. That kinda unconditional, unshakable love is the most amazing thing to me!

I enjoy learning from folks who KNOW how to find joy in the simplest, most mundane things. And folks who know how to take the high road no matter how low others may go...to me, we all have two choices in any given moment: Love or Fear. To choose love when others are afraid is the ultimate act of courage...courage rooted in love. I heard Carrie Fisher's Mom say that she is so unflappable because she has always seen herself as the root of a tree...takes some pretty strong winds to uproot a tree! "serenity is not runnin from the storm...it is finding the calm in the eye of the storm."
