Overview
About Me
I am a traveler, an outdoor educator, an aspiring midwife, a Peace Corps volunteer, an adventurer, a writer and poet, a backpacker and a biker. I have spent the last 27 months living in a rural Nepali village working on nutrition focused agriculture, teaching English, waste water conservation and generally becoming as Nepali as I can. I am pretty good at carry large amounts of grass balanced from a strap around my forehead, so I would say that the experience has been a smashing success!
I travel because I want to learn more about people, places and perspectives. I really value being able to spend time connecting with a place and the people who live there. Although I seem to be on the move a lot, I really value the moments of quiet amongst the adventures. A perfect Friday evening finds me with a group of friends around a campfire, sparkling under the stars and soaring peaks.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am on Couchsurfing because I think that the best way to experience a new place is with a person who lives there. It's you who know the best cafes, know the best hikes and secret waterfalls, know where to go dancing and when the little markets open on that special street corner.

Music, Movies, and Books
Oh gosh! There is so much to love... But some of my favorites are:
Music- Ben Howard, anything with a fiddle and a banjo, Michael Franti, the occasional guilty pleasure of a trashy pop song, Dar Williams, Calle 13...the list could go on for a while. :) I love music!
Movie- Hideous Kinky ( who can resist the allure of Kate Winslet as a hippy mom adventuring with her two adorable daughters around Morocco?!)
Books- Anything by Khaled Hosseini, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have biked the width and hiked the length of the United States.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you Nepali or how to make a camping stove out of a can...
I would love to learn about your town and your life.
I would love to share a hike and a cup of tea!
What I Can Share with Hosts
