I want to bring mutual understanding, appreciation, love, creativity, inspiration, and open-mindedness to the world. The best way I know how to do this is through music.
I am a recent college grad and currently a music teacher at an elementary school. I love meeting new people and sharing stories. I am a creative type with many interests.
I think my philosophy changes daily. Right now, and most days, I think it's to "ride the wave." Follow your heart, put yourself out there, and the situations you are meant to experience will present themselves. Hopefully, you will learn from them.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I couch surfed once so far and it was a great experience. I would like to travel abroad this summer to Montreal, Israel, and perhaps Krakow, Poland and Morocco. Perhaps I will end up staying with you!
I cannot host at this time because I live with too many people and there is no room for surfers, but I am definitely open to hanging out.
I stayed overnight in Montreal, CA.
I enjoy hiking, walking my dog, drawing, talking, and exploring new places.
Music, Movies, and Books
Movies I like: The Fifth Element, Silver Linings Playbook, Any movie with Tom Hanks, and many others that I cannot think of at the moment....
Music: I appreciate everything. Right now, I really love listening to and singing jazz. I really love playing klezmer music on my violin.
Books: The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo, Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling, The Da Vanci Code/Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. I haven't had much time to read lately.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My college orchestra got the chance to play a concert with the world-renowned cellist, Yo-Yo Ma, as our soloist. It was the most amazing musical experience.
I got to hike Masada (mountain in Israel) at dawn then watched the sunrise over the dead sea. Then, I swam in the dead sea-weirdest feeling ever!
Teach, Learn, Share
TEACHING: I am a music teacher, so I can teach you about the theory behind music and some proper vocal technique for singing. I am a violinist, so I can teach you to play violin or viola, or basics for any string instrument. I can teach you very basic piano.
I took a photography class, a pottery-wheel class, and my sister is an artist (painter), so I can tell you a little about the technique behind those art forms.
I know very basic French and I speak/write fluent English. If you need help with either of those languages, I can do my best to teach you.
SHARING: If you are a musician, we could jam out and share each others' techniques and styles. Right now, I am learning to play klezmer music, so we can share about that genre.
If you are a music or elementary teacher, I would love to share stories and teaching methods.
LEARNING: I would love to learn how to cook different foods (without meat). I love learning about music, art, and dance from other cultures.
I would love to improve my French, learn basic Hebrew, or any other language.
