Embarrassing question... read the CS members references to get an idea!
It's my job, so I can't resume... if I were be able to resume my philosophy in a sentence, I wouldn't have needed to study and teach it!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
With the exception of one crazy person I've actually never met (see below), my couchsurfing experience was always fantastic: wether it was hosting people on my couch in Paris, or meeting or staying with couchsurfers in Turkey and all over Brazil. Some great friendships have started here.
Music, literature, philosophy, wine, food, chinese culture, brazilian culture, gardening, photography...

Music, Movies, and Books
My personal heroes are: Milton Nascimento, Joni Mitchell, Donald Fagen and Wayne Shorter, who is the link between them all. And of course, geniuses in a class of their own: Miles Davis and João Gilberto.
I also like;
Almost anything brazilian: samba by Cartola, Paulinho de Viola,or Elza Soares... Elis Regina, Simone, Nana Caymmi, 70's Gilberto Gil, Chico Buarque, Caetano, João Bosco, early Djavan, Gonzaguinha, Gal Costa, Joyce, Toninho Horta, Tom Jobim, Los Hermanos, Guingua, Hamilton de Hollanda...
70's Soul, Funk and R'nB: Bill Withers, Donny Hathaway, Bobby Womack, Marvin Gaye, the Isley Brothers, Chaka Khan, George Clinton, Bootsy Collins and their Funkadelic crowd, Cameo, Earth Wind & Fire, Maze, Sam Cooke, Otis Redding
20th century classical: Alban Berg above all, Schoenberg, Webern, Zemlinsky, Ligeti, Dutilleux, Debussy, Ravel. Also Bach, Schumann, Brahms, Mahler, Liszt, Wagner.
Jazz: John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Joe Henderson, Art Tatum, Duke Ellington, also blues by Muddy Waters or John Lee Hooker. Crooners like Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Nancy Wilson, Dinah Washington.
As for Rock, I'd rather have a single Jimi Hendrix LP than all the rest of the music. He's the greatest, invented and resumes it all!
Movies: Anything by Douglas Sirk, John Ford, Alfred Hitchcock. Or early Coppola, Scorcese, some David Lynch and Coen Bros.
Books: Vladimir Nabokov, Jorge-Luis Borges, Alain Robbe-Grillet, Proust, Kafka, Balzac, Eça de Queiroz, Machado de Assis... more recently: Will Self, Chuck Pahlaniuk, Michel Houellebecq.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
To love and to be loved.. to be suddenly possessed by an idea, a melody, a storyline, and see it unfold before you and hopefully to be able to create something with it.
Teach, Learn, Share
What could I teach you... let's see:
Philosophy, that's my job
Play the piano, but that's too long... maybe to play a simple bossa nova on guitar.
I could teach you to cook some select french, italian (ligurian), maybe even thai and chinese (sichuan!) dishes... definitively, just ask!
I could also teach you wine tasting, which has been an informal part-time job. And bits of french, german, english and brazilian portuguese, of course!
