About Me

Yeah yeah I know, my profile is a selfie stick picture... Anyways:

I'm a student and Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, USA, working towards my Bachelors in Science of Mechanical Engineering. As well as studying at Purdue I am also a member of the Purdue Cross Country and Track teams. I also live in Indiana, and it's a nice place to live but it really isn't all that exciting (pretty much just flat cornfields everywhere). I have not seen a lot of the world at this point in my life but I am ready to experience as much as I can!

I'm currently on summer holiday and living in Eisenach, Germany, and working as an intern for PETKUS Technologies in Wutha-Farnroda, Germany. I'm going somewhere new every weekend and I hope to meet all kinds of people! I'm a lone wanderer so I love meeting new people wherever I'm traveling or just say hello!

My summer goal is to run in a totally new place every Sunday (Sundays are the days I run the longest so I can really explore on my run)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Everywhere I travel I want to be a part of something new, I want to be a part of a new culture and witness a different way of life.

I think people make everything better. If I can meet and learn something from someone who has had a different life experience than me, than my trip has been a success. And I hope along the way I can pass on something to someone as well.

The majority of my life I've been very introverted, but as I've grown older I have completely come out of my shell, and now I want to meet lots of people!

Interests

My biggest passion is running. I have been running competitively since the 5th grade and I have loved every moment of it. I still run today and I am currently a member of the Purdue University Varsity Cross Country and Track teams.

I enjoy cooking, I'm not very good at it, but I love making and trying new foods! I mean I reaally like food. But unfortunately I am gluten free (Celiac Disease), so that narrows a lot of my food choices.

I love music. I've dabbled with playing instruments (alto saxophone and bass guitar) but I mainly enjoy listening to it. Music makes you feel things and I love that.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love Hip-Hop/rap, especially J. Cole, but I like most hip-hop (Ex. Kanye, Jay-Z, Biggie, Tupac, Nas, NWA, Chance the Rapper, Logic, Childish Gambino, and so on). I love rap but I can really listen to and enjoy all kinds of music.

Big fan of Quentin Tarantino movies and I have been a huge Star Wars fan since I was a kid. I could talk about Star Wars or Tarantino movies all night long, I'm a nerd in that way.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Taking a summer job in a foreign country that doesn't speak my language is probably the most amazing thing I've ever done. I've also recently gone skydiving in a town right outside of Berlin.

Teach, Learn, Share

My native language is English, I know some Spanish from school, and I've just started learning German. I'd love to strengthen either my Spanish or German abiliteis, and I'm happy to help people with their English!

If you can teach me more about cooking (especially gluten free food) that would be great! And if you're new to the gluten free diet, or just interested, I can give you all kinds of tips and advice.

I could help you with running related stuff, maybe some exercises or something.

I can share plenty of stories and hold some pretty good conversations. I like to think I'm a fun guy to talk to

What I Can Share with Hosts

Like I said earlier, I think people have the biggest influence on your life and I hope to learn from all types of people, and I also hope I can make someones day/week/life a little bit better.

I can also share my perspective on life and all kinds of stuff. As my mom always says to me, "Ben, life is all about perspective", so those who are willing to see my perspective on things, I'm more than willing to share as well as hear yours!
