About Me

Hello!

I am an eclectic mix of many different interests and experiences. From being a performer working at Disney and a research assistant in applied particle physics in college, I've gone to work as a scenic carpenter in professional theatre and a volunteer english teacher in Madagascar. I enjoy watching anime as much as I enjoy reading early medieval literature. I enjoy alternative fashion as much as much as hiking. scuba diving, and tea.

I love learning. About almost anything. I enjoy good discussion and challenging ideas. But just as much I love working with my hands, creating something. It can be carpentry, cooking or baking, writing; I'm trying to do more sculpture and fashion design, and I've done some cosplay too. It doesn’t need to be magnificent, both the special and the mundane can be beautiful.

All in all I'm a relaxed and flexible person; it doesn't matter so much what I'm doing, it's the people I'm with that make it fun.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Volunteering in Suriname I stayed with several different host families over 3 months; I stayed for a year with a host family in Madagascar -- those experiences were amazing and I am so thankful for what I received. Traveling I'm made many friends: through hostels, people I've met on the street, friends of friends, and through simple luck. I'm on couch surfing because I want to give back where I can and continue meeting new people, making friends, sharing stories, and learning new things.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Company and a good time: Shopping, going to a park, arcade, museum, watching a movie: I've found just about anything is more fun when you have fun people to share it with. I also love to just sit and talk, sharing stories and experiences; I've had great conversations over a meal or tea, and at 2 am after having a couple of drinks. Sometimes it's light and fun: talking about fashion, favorite anime, music and books; other times it's a deep conversations about things like philosophy, theology, literature, etc where we can talk for hours wrestling with a question or idea.

I'm also always happy to cook, or fix or build small things if you need any carpentry or handyman work.
