ABOUT ME

Hi, I am a university student, currently studying japanese literature and philosophy. I like making clothing, binding books, baking food. However I am not a good cook! I am earnest, but don't be surprised if I offer to "help" and it turns out to be the worst thing you have ever tasted. I am getting better at baking though.

Honestly I am not a huge party person, I am somewhat reserved especially in huge groups of people, but I enjoy sightseeing, meeting new people, et cetera.

Unfortunately I do not have a couch. I live in a studio apartment just big enough for myself. However I will meet you for coffee/tea if you would like, and I can show you around the San Francisco Bay Area.

Muzyka, filmy i książki

Robert Walser's "Der Gehulfe" and "Jakob von Gunten." I like lots of books from Japan: Natsume Soseki's "Kokoro" and "I am a Cat," Yukio Mishima's Decalogue, Ryonosuke Akutagawa's short fiction (Rashomon, Kappa), Kono Taeko, Edogawa Rampo, and Izumi Kyoka's long horror stories. One book I'm trying to get my hands on is "Monkey" by Li Peng; it's an old Chinese satire that was recommended to me a long time ago, but I've completely forgotten what it's about!

I haven't seen any movies in a long time. I really like "The Third Man" and "Hiroshima Mon Amour." Also lots of Scandinavian films like "Songs from the Second Story" and the Bergman films, and of course Aki Kaurismaki. I would like to see his film "Leningrad Cowboys Go America" but I can't find it anywhere.

I find that it's better if life is generally boring, so that exciting things are that much more so. Also, any huge project requires you to be bored a lot of the time, so learning to deal with it is a big part of life.

I can teach you how to silkscreen cheaply, if not well, with a minimum of materials. (You need: a sewing loop, mesh, school glue and acrylic paint) I am not the world's worst silkscreener, but not by much.

If you have cheddar cheese, Guinness and potato chips, I can teach you how to make a dish called the "Dublin-Wisconsin War." Please see disclaimer above about cooking.
