About Me

CURRENT MISSION

explore places that don't include an iconic tourist attraction

ABOUT ME

Born in UK and raised all over the world since 2 months old. Multi-lingual and multi-cultural upbringing, bolstered with new languages picked up through schooling and university (Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese and Farsi, in varying degrees of fluency.

I love a good laugh (mostly at my expense) and having friends drop by the house and sitting on my back deck for conversation, coffee, glass of plonk or a meal. Enjoy cooking (and eating!) and learning about food from all over the world. I love languages and enjoy picking up enough of a foreign language to make a local/native speaker laugh; it doesn't take much at times.

Interests

Languages, cooking, growing food, hiking, camping, urban exploration, reading, skiing, politics/economics, idle banter and chortling. I am cheeky.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Kayaking in the Inner Coastal and camping on remote beaches in BC, Canada
Living in Shanghai pre-Tiananmen and pre-internet; a year that changed my life. A particular moment was the market in Kashgar and staying at the old Russian embassy.
Driving over the Continental Divide during a thunder storm
