About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel the world and capture the essence of cities in digital collages

ABOUT ME

I am a digital artist originally from San Francisco. I have painted for many years and am currently working on a completely digital photo project. I travel to different cities, skateboard around town taking multiple panorama and then combine select ones into a surreal depiction of that city. I was born and raised in San Francisco, have lived in New York for 5 years and have lived in Amsterdam for about the same amount of time, where I attended art school and began my current series. I am currently traveling to new cities to take more pictures and am revisiting the cities that I have already captured to exhibit all the completed cities in large format prints.

PHILOSOPHY

The Golden Rule usually sums it up for me -
Do onto others as you'd have done onto you

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I do travel a lot and I don't always have a permanent place to live, but when I do I am open to have people come and stay.

I keep meeting people on the road that recommend this site quite a bit, so I wanted to try it out. It would be nice to meet some people that would have a couch for me to surf on in their town. I'm usually out all day taking pictures for my Digital City Project, and it would be nice to hang out with a local from the town, so I can get a little insight into what life is like there. Usually when I stay with someone and take photos for one of my collages, I like to send them a big print of the image as appreciation for their hospitality.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I guess I've been couch surfing for a long time, I just called it getting by. It always amazes me, that when you are open and friendly person, no matter what the situation, you usually find a helping hand when your in a time of need and put yourself out there in the world.

I've been helped and blessed so many times in my travels, I can't remember them all. People have let me stay at their house after meeting me for only a couple of minutes, when I had nowhere to stay in a strange town, in a strange land. Quite amazing, really.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I participated in the Global Peace Walk 2000, which was a walk for global peace from San Francisco to New York. I didn't walk the whole way, but joined the walk for the last two months on the east coast. The walk was lead by a Buddhist monk from Japan and had a about 40 participants at the end. We were joined by many native american chiefs as we had meetings at the white house and eventually the UN. It was a great experience, I learned a lot about native american ceremonies and what it is like to put yourself out there on the road for a cause.
