About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel. Eat Cheese. Learn to make cheese, then eat it!

ABOUT ME

I like to be outside, but I don't like over-exerting myself. Most often I can be found laying around somewhere extremely beautiful with or without an adult beverage in my hand. Sometimes this is only the hammock in my front yard, but hey, it's very beautiful there!

I love exploring places in the hill country, particularly if they are known for having tasty food or above average swimming holes.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm here to be of service. Life is tough if you think you're alone, but when you reach out your hand to help someone else you realize your not, and think back to all those times that you needed a hand- and all those hands that reached out to you.

Eating fruit at the peak of season is the most sublime experience a human being can have. I eat fruit constantly to ensure that I do not miss its seasonal peak.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm planning a trip to Europe in June and looking for co-conspirators. I plan to definitely hit London and Paris, then move along to Germany, where I will have about a week to wander before I go to WWOOF on a farm in Regensburg.

I'd love to exchange information, coffee, couches, etc. to help people along their way and also be helped along the way.

Sorry I don't have any references yet. Meet me for a coffee/lunch/drink
and you can be the first!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have no CouchSurfing(TM) experiences. In college I had a roommate who was fond of hosting friends she met on MySpace as they migrated through Los Angeles in search of greener pastures... usually the Coachella music festival. It was fun.

I surfed couches all over the east coast when I was in high school and desperate to visit friends who had already gone to college. I've also slept on a few floors in San Francisco, but who hasn't?

Interests

Ecstatic Poetry: Rilke, Rumi, Merwin. Really old books, particularly the smell of them. Espresso. Baked Goods. Cheese. Peak of Season Fruit.

Permaculture. Community. Cooking for people.... Baking cakes!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I swam into the Ti Tou Gorge in Dominica at dusk with a three year old. She was crying and I was horrified because you couldn't see what was around the corner, but I had to keep telling her to focus on the beautiful peaceful things, the sound of the water, the blue light in the trees, the coolness of the stones surrounding us... and it calmed us both down. Then we finally made it to the falls at the end and it was gorgeous!

Teach, Learn, Share

Contact me if you want to learn about native landscaping, permaculture, or the local food scene here in austin.

Richardson Farms has the best pork in the area. Dai Due does the best things with it. Antonelli's is the only cheese shop in town, and it's worth the visit.

Also, I can teach you how to speak Texan! First lesson: Howdy is a question, it's short for How do you do? People use it as a greeting, but you can answer it as though it is a question. Second, all "a" sounds are long vowels. And saying Sir and Ma'am is mandatory. For more lessons, y'all should grab a cold one with me sometime!
