About Me
CURRENT MISSION
My current mission is to encourage less of an environmental impact. I grow my own organic foo d and try to lessen my own carbon footprint. We are very nice middle-aged people with an 11 year-old homeschooler that keeps things interesting.
ABOUT ME
Well, I'm in my fifties and have a wonderful husband and five children. Most of them are grown with my 11 year-old still at home. We live on a quiet acreage with abundant wildlife and forest around - which I love. I take many walks along our road just to see what is newly grown and to take in a large breath of fresh clean air under the forest firs. I swing on our swing everyday (weather permitting) and sometimes my granddaughter joins me. I adore watching children, listening to people and learning. I like to nurture all things. I have been a vegetarian but currently eat meat. I grow organic vegetables and raise chickens, ducks and geese.
PHILOSOPHY
My personal philosophy is that the world is one of abundance- a simple joy in which to partake and return.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have hosted five young people recently traveling through our area quite by accident. They surfed with one of my daughter's friends, and he brought them to my daughter's birthday BBQ. They stayed one night. That is what prompted me to join the group!
Interests
We are interested in most activities - hiking, beachcombing, windsurfing(my husband), fishing, cooking, reading (me). We are a multicultural family so we enjoy listening about other cultures as well.

Music, Movies, and Books
I have several favorite books that seem to change with the year, some current favorites are Ahab's Wife, Shantaram, The Wife, Ann Bronte's "Agness Gray". We like almost all music.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
We love traveling so it's hard to pinpoint one sight - we love seeing it all. However along with that, I will not dismiss the first wave I caught surfing, the first time I made it down a hill skiing and watching my children turn into wonderfully adept adults.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am able to knit, crochet, preserve and my husband is a contractor that is able to build most things. We wouldn't mind sharing our skills if someone were interested. I would love to learn how to make jewlery and baskets. I am an avid reader so sharing book titles would be great!
