ABOUT ME

My parents gave me an extremely stable and boring upbringing in the cornfields of Indiana. While in college, also in Indiana, I managed to sneak away to take a summer class in Hawaii and study abroad in Exeter, England. I did my student teaching in England. After graduating, I taught 3rd grade and high school English each for a year in Orlando. I quit teaching to work for a company that sends me to some far off places and have never looked back. I enjoy the spontaneity of my job, never knowing where I'm going to be next week, working with so many different types of people from all over the world, and experiencing different cultures.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to do what makes me happy without interfering with any other person's happiness. If I can be a factor in making someone else happy, then all the better. I always do try to see the best in what seems like bad situations.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I just read about this website in some airline magazine. I forgot which one, but it was one of those magazines stuck in the seatback pocket of the airline I was on that day. I checked out the site and will see what happens. I'm hoping to meet other like-minded people and share stories.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None as of yet. I am hardly ever in town since my job has me out of town about 15-20 days a month.

Interessi

I loved staying in youth hostels when I was studying abroad in England. I went on a little adventure to Paris, Brussels, and Amsterdam with another student. We met so many cool people in the youth hostels. I love the laid back attitude of fellow travelers.

I love being outdoors, which is why I had to get out of Indiana. It's too cold there! I like biking (but I'm not one of those serious bikers with the tight outfit), hiking, rollerblading, writing, photography, and just acting silly.

Musica, film e libri

The Celestine Prophecy series, Yes Man, Bitter is the New Black (not as bitter as it sounds), The Art of Racing in the Rain (both Race fans and dog lovers will LOVE this book), and anything by Joel Osteen.

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto

I've been really lucky to land a job that has me traveling all over the world for free; sometimes flying into countries that are not exactly tourist hotspots, but it's been the best learning experience of my life.

Looking forward to having some new characters in my life. :)

I love to laugh and will laugh at the dumbest things. I like to just go with the flow and see what life brings. I believe I can learn something from everyone no matter what their background or education may be.

I got my pilot's license a few years ago, but barely use it. Just because it's legal for me to fly a plane doesn't make it a good idea. However, I would definitely recommend taking flight lessons to anyone who is interested. It pushed me to learn and understand more than I ever thought possible while taking basic flight principles and applying them to life as well.
