About Me

To immerse myself in the Spanish language & various Latin-American cultures. Although, I don't have the facilities to host guests, I'm willing to serve as a guide. Please disregard my facetious age notation--my age is a personal matter.

I'm a mature individual with diverse musical tastes and appreciation of cultures different from my own. When traveling, I prefer mixing with local citizens and experiencing the real culture.

A lot of my time is spent reading and studying, and writing blogs. I volunteer my time as VP of Education in Toastmasters, a worldwide organization for the development of communication and leadership skills.

I'm passionate about my work in helping people find jobs, particularly through resume writing, interview strategies, and development of job opportunities.
*NOTE: Disregard my facetious age notation--it's a personal matter.

I believe in spirituality and a “personal” relationship with a higher spiritual power.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As much as I would love to host, I live in a small bachelor pad. I am willing to entertain with food, drink, and tours.

I am deeply inspired by my first experience with where my hosts set examples on how to do my part to help fulfill the mission of Couchsurfing International. The same love that was extended to me, I want to extend to others.

However, before Couchsurfing International was born, I surfed in Cuba, The Philippines, and Singapore.

My primary reason for travel, particularly to Latin-American countries, is to improve my Spanish of which I'm self taught. In addition, I love history, cultural exploration, music, and blogging about my travel experience.

African American-Latino World

Music, Movies, and Books

I AM A MUSIC LOVER: classical, salsa, old school, jazz, and music from Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Guadalupe, Haiti, Martinique, Perú, Senegal, South Africa, Spain, and Zaire.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I taught myself Spanish out of a book and made friends with Spanish-speakers who helped me to develop my Spanish. In addition, I've visited nine Spanish-speaking countries having immersed myself in Spanish and local cultures.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you come to the San Francisco/Oakland area, I'd love to accompany you to wherever you want to go and see. When in your area, I'd love to treat you to dinner, drinks, entertainment; it's on me.

I wish to learn Latin-American courtesy/manners. For example, when I was in Perú, someone advised me that when I walk into a place of business or approach someone on the street for information, I first greet them with buenos días, buenas tardes, or buenas noches before discussing whatever business I need to discuss.

I'm also willing to help improve ones English-speaking skills like I did with one of my couchsurfing hosts in Venezuela.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Japan, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Philippines, Singapore, United States, Venezuela

Countries I’ve Lived In

Philippines, United States
