Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To go on an adventure and have a positive impact on the people I meet!
ABOUT ME
I am quiet, friendly, creative, and organized. I enjoy meeting new people and hearing about their experience of the world. I love exploring the outdoors - be it wilderness backpacking or just a walk in the park - and visiting museums. I am now about to start my last undergraduate year at Columbia University, with plans for a PhD in Neuroscience or Pharmacology in order to start a career in psychopharmacology.
PHILOSOPHY
First, do no harm. Build a life that brings you joy in what you do. Be present and conduct yourself with respect. Recognize when a person needs help, and help that person.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Surfing: I'm starting my profile because I just found out that a friend in Paris can't host me for as long as I thought!
Hosting: My boyfriend and I might have a little extra space at our place in New York during the coming academic year, so we may be open to hosting starting this autumn.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've stayed with friends and other people at various colleges (MIT, Dartmouth). Whether on a mattress or in a sleeping bag on the floor, I'm happy! I also have a habit of keeping my belongings in my suitcase/bag, so I'm a neat and compact guest.
Interests
Research. Molecules. Writing. Cooking. Animals, plants, and fungi.
"Fiction is based on reality unless you're a fairy-tale artist, you have to get your knowledge of life from somewhere. You have to know the material you're writing about before you alter it." (Hunter S. Thompson)

Music, Movies, and Books
Some authors I love: D. H. Lawrence, Guy de Maupassant, Ralph Ellison, Kobo Abe, Hunter S. Thompson, William Golding, Joan Didion, Nathalie Sarraute, Tolkein, and e. e. cummings.
A few of my favorite famous artists are Joy Division, Cat Stevens, Amon Tobin, Black Moth Super Rainbow, and David Bowie.
I can't even begin to sum up the films I like. I like a lot of movies that aren't made in America, but I'm also pretty sure that I watch Jurassic Park more than once every year.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I stood alone on a trail in King's Canyon National Park (in the Sierras) after a long ascent. Small plants were the only other life I could see, and the only sound was the wind howling through the valley behind me.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach about skepticism and critical analysis while reading works of journalism and science, about drug actions and effects (and differences between drugs), and about United States drug policy.
