About Me

Saskatchewan farm-kid blessed enough to have been raised around horses and forced to go to church.

I couldn't raise the puck off the ice so I focused on piano scales to soon discover Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson and began putting pen to paper. Chasing the muse made more sense education-wise than university so in my early twenties I hit the road full time to play every beer joint and honky tonk in the country. Still doing it. Never bought into the whole "starving musician" thing.

I come from a great family and have a loving partner. She sings too - a heck of a lot better than I do.

Music, Movies, and Books

Classical music works best when I'm computing. Country music works best when I'm commuting. Kristofferson's b-sides are far superior to anything on the radio today. I love Waylon & Willie. Today's country music is as good as it's ever been thanks to Jason Isbell, Whitey Morgan, Sturgill Simpson, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Ryan Bingham, Hayes Carll, Todd Snider, Turnpike Troubadours, Lukas Nelson, Lee Ann Womack, Jim Lauderdale and the list goes on. Randy Travis will rise again.

Love The Hip. Favourite Hip records are In Violet Light, World Container, Trouble in the Henhouse, and Day for Night.

I believe hip-hop and country will find their place together with one magical and intelligent artist. It will be authentic and progressive.

Movies are tough these days - really into documentaries and cooking shows. Not really much of a "crush a season on Netflix" kind of guy - I did it with Breaking Bad when I had mono in 2015 and with Stranger Things. I guess I'm nostalgic for the late eighties, early nineties. Best movie ever is Tombstone.

I've been reading a ton of fiction. A couple hours a day.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Over ten years of self-employment in the music industry.
Slowly chipping away at starting that label.

Teach, Learn, Share

Love and forgive.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I appreciate healthy discussions on politics and spiritual beliefs - I also don't search for the discussion. My mind is always open to being changed and value all opinions as long as they aren't rooted in bigotry, sexism, racism, homophobia, etc.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Mexico, United States
