make music, share music, and immediately? get into grad school
I compose and I play the bassoon! I used to be a double major in Japanese, but like my many other interests (including cooking, writing, saving the world, etc.) I had to put it on the back burner to make way for more musical time.
Approach everything with an open heart and an open mind.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Highly interested in surfing all over the place. My roommate and I would also be into hosting the right person here in Portland and showing them all our wonderful city has to offer!
Music, Composition, experiencing other cultures, opening all your senses to how wonderful living can be
Music, Movies, and Books
John Adams, Bach, Beethoven, Berlioz, Brahms, Dvorak, Elgar, Mozart, Nancarrow, Rachmaninov, Ravel, Rimsky-Korsakov, Schumann, Shostakovich, Sibelius, Tchaikovsky, to name a few.
As far as music outside the classical realm, I'm into random things from The Beatles to Daft Punk.
Big fan of Hesse, Dostoyevsky, Camus, and classics in general. Love early Greek stuff and early writings in general (Tale of Genji is so brilliant). My younger years were spent reading through countless fantasy series (Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Prydain, Narnia, Redwall... you name it) and I have a soft spot in my heart for the Ender's Game series.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Teaching English in Korea for a month was an awesome experience!
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd love to share some of the music I'm writing with anyone I come across, and due to the relative obscurity of my instrument I tend to act as an ambassador for it. I can tell you more than you ever wanted to know about the bassoon. ;)
