About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Travel to escape grad school! Hear music! Meet new people!
ABOUT ME
ALL about me? I feel overwhelmed by the idea of conveying my entire personality on here - now this feels like an online dating site. I'm trying this out for the first time after learning about it through a couple friends who are galavanting around the world. Also, I'm a poor grad student so it's the only way I can afford to go to all the music festivals I spend my money on. I enjoy meeting new people and hearing their stories. I would say I'm pretty open-minded and can go with the flow, though I'm not afraid to voice my opinions. But I think I'm pretty amiable most of the time and out for new experiences whenever I'm traveling. Overall the less planning, especially during a trip, the more interesting it becomes.
PHILOSOPHY
I want to engage and share in experiences and be open to learning from other people. And to teach what I learn along the way.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
At the moment, I'm going to try out surfing here and there. My living situation doesn't really lend itself to hosting, but hopefully that can change in the near future.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've couch surfed (on friends couches) but not CouchSurfed!
Interests
Music (listening, playing, seeing it live!); science & technology (both the developments and the merits - and demerits - thereof); hiking (which I should do more of)

Music, Movies, and Books
I tend to listen to a lot of indie type stuff but my appreciation is pretty broad. Right now, I've been cycling through Grizzly Bear, Beach House, Youth Lagoon, The xx, Yeasayer, Phantogram, Bon Iver, Cults, Tame Impala, Hot Chip, Metric. But Fleet Foxes, Arcade Fire, MGMT and Radiohead are some of my mainstays. I guess as a (hobby) musician, I like to seek out novel instrumentation and song structure. And as a keyboardist, I have a bias towards synth heavy songs.
Movies: generally any psychological thriller or period drama. But also more character-driven (vs. plot-driven) stuff. Some favorites include There Will Be Blood, Lost in Translation, Wes Anderson films.
Books: Haruki Murakami, Aldous Huxley, Camus. I really should read more things outside of work...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Finally getting to meet my extended family in Korea! And going to Coachella!
Teach, Learn, Share
Music! (do you notice a trend?) I'm also in grad school for engineering, so I would hope I'm competent enough to teach something about it.
