Sobre mí

I’m originally from New Jersey but lived in both Boston and Chicago before moving to Geneva in 2015. Travel has always appealed to me, and I love when I have the opportunity to see more than the tourist side of a city. Not that there’s anything wrong with that when I am, after all, a tourist. But it’s nice to see how places exist for non-travelers. I work in public health research and write on the side.

I like this quote, care of Kurt Vonnegut:
"My uncle Alex Vonnegut…taught me something very important. He said that when things were really going well we should be sure to notice it. He was talking about simple occasions, not great victories: maybe drinking lemonade on a hot afternoon in the shade, or smelling the aroma of a nearby bakery, or fishing and not caring if we catch anything or not, or hearing somebody all alone playing a piano really well in the house next door. Uncle Alex urged me to say this out loud during such epiphanies: If this isn’t nice, what is?"

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

I've yet to use this site but have done some unofficial couch surfing, staying with friends of friends I'd never before met but who were super generous and friendly. It was always a great and inexpensive way to really learn about a city, so I'm looking forward to more experiences like that.

Travel and road trips, movies, books, museums, vintage clothing, thrifting, bourbon, cooking, baking bread, public health, social justice, running, knitting, learning to play the ukulele, hiking, going to shows, and corgis.

Algo increíble que he hecho

I've taken a couple of neat trips but my favorite was probably a combination of driving and flying across the United States. I met some great people and saw so much of the country that was previously unknown to me. The country is just so massive and there are tons of people to meet and places to see - cities, nature, and small towns with personality.
