Why I’m on Couchsurfing
No couchsurfing as such, but slept for 3 weeks in Sydney Airport and 3 months on Sydney's intercity trains - that was great, Sydneysiders seem to be really honest - never noticed any evidence that anybody even opened my bag, and I fell asleep with a laptop virtually in my hands on a train that does a loop through the "worst" areas - never had a problem.
Music, computers (to an extent!) and most of all, experiencing other cultures!
Music, Movies, and Books
Music - gee, almost anything turns me on there
Movies - anything that isn't Hollywood, with a few rare exceptions
Books - mainly travel, especialy Micheal Palin, he's a legend and inspiration to anyone wanting to experience another country.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Probably the incredible goodwill and kindness of complete strangers that I experienced in my previously mentioned Sydney experience. I lived with an ex-lawyer for several years - wasn't living in the best area before then - this guy really taught me a lot about the outside world, the most curteous, kind, self-sacrificing person I ever met, and my experience with living with him, even though now he's had a stroke, has made me the person I am today.
Teach, Learn, Share
Gee, any computing questions - I know more about some things that some people, less about some things than others. Want advice? I'm a good listener.
