About Me

Energetic fella interested in languages, travel, religion, running. Love low tech entertainment & the diversity of our chosen families in cities where we live. Feel happiest with locals.

I like the Irish thing where nobody is a stranger
plus the highly un-Irish thing of seeing others do well and finding that an inspiration.

Interested in folks who are in touch with those around them, who see the magic of low tech entertainment, who seek and exude happiness without having to consume, who do something about the things they feel could be better, whose identity is created not from drama, issues or web profiles.

I'm not sure why, but we've been given the chance to grow, learn and change things, with finite time to balance the equation.
If we're lucky, we can choose and make decisions which, for me, is the thing we mustn't forget.
Making the right choices to achieve greatest happiness for us and those around us is the tricky bit.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've been lucky to stay with friends in other countries, mostly through people I met in London.
It's so much nicer to stay with locals and share a real sense of the place you visit.
Going away just to do the same as you do at home doesn't excite me.

as to couch surfing though

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

the feeling of kinship and friendship with people with backgrounds that could not be more different than mine
in far off places + close to home

Teach, Learn, Share

Consumption does not seem to be a route to real happiness. It's a route to complication, being disconnected, drugged.

In society, how are the growing lowest common denominators compatible with survival of the fittest?
