CURRENTLY IN MELBOURNE!

American living in Melbourne, VIC! Looking to start doing some traveling in Australia and other near by countries. I graduated college in 2013 and I've lived many places since. I taught English in China for a year right after graduation. Then I took a travel job with a non-profit in the states, and now I've landed in Australia. I'm extremely easy going and love meeting new people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Looking for a cheaper and better ;) option for accommodation! Best way to do it is through the locals. I love meeting new people and connecting through travel experiences and new skills. I love good conversations and being able to find common ground no matter where you come from.

Interests

I love anything and everything that is outside, yoga, people watching and a great beer. Since moving to Australia I now have a new love for coffee that I didn't think was possible. Reading is one of my favorite things to do (paired with coffee even better).

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy all kinds of music, more specifically indie pop/ alt rock/ country/ and my cringe worthy R&B. But if the music makes me feel good, I'll dance. I do love myself a good festival.
I can't really begin to list movies. I LOVE MOVIES. I tend to really enjoy movies that nothing really happens but they make your think a lot about life and circumstance.
I usually stick to the classics with reading, some of my favorite authors are T.C. Boyle, Margaret Atwood and Tom Robbins.

Taught over 1,000 Chinese students English (or attempted to) and learned conversational chinese during my time there

I can teach basic Chinese, hair braiding or "Plaiting" as they call it here and I know a thing or two about American culture.

I'd love to learn anything you have to offer! Party tricks, your favorite dish to cook, how to play an instrument- open to all.

I have an amazing impression of the Australian accent.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook delicious vegetarian meals! As well as offer lovely conversation, a gracious and clean guest, as well as someone to go grab a meal/ beer/ see something amazing with :)
