One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
2004: Hiking up Valle de la Luna sand dunes in the Atacama desert of Chile. I was only 20, living and studying in Valdivia, Chile- I was hiking up this enormous sand dune after a long bike ride, trying to make it to the top before the sunset. When I made it up just in time I had this incredible indescribable moment as the sun went down where I felt the world's beauty and my own youth -and the power and limitless hope that comes along with that- uniting.
2012: Just last year I sat outside our little cabana in Mazunte, Mexico, listening to the ocean under the stars. I was no longer feeling as wild and free as I did traveling in my early twenties (I now had real responsibilities and commitments) but I felt this amazing connection to the universe. I was ALIVE. I realized I always had in my power the choice to be vulnerable, uncomfortable, see things up close, and experience things in real life. I can make that choice at any age.
