About Me

CURRENT MISSION

staying sane, writing, staying current, being the best friend I can be, and loving the ones I love.

ABOUT ME

I'm one half of a gay couple. Don and I have been together for 29 years and still going strong. We're both 58.

I've spent many years immersed in math and science at the University of Washington, I've worked in government for intolerably egotistic politicians, I worked a number of years for one of the richest families on the planet, I write (really well, I'm told), I help people out who are trying hard, and meeting new people, especially the young and not-so jaded, is welcomed at our home. Fifty-Eight is not dead .... just more curious and loving people's adventures.

We're pretty tame and sorta homebodies, but welcome people on adventures.

PHILOSOPHY

Friendship is hard work sometimes, but to keep a friend through good and bad is the ultimate end game.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, I paid $25 to get registered. And I have a friend who is sold on couchsurfing both as a host and as a guest.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None directly, but another member has hosted many times.

Interests

Keeping up and every once in while getting a bit ahead.

Music, Movies, and Books

I read mostly non-fiction, political type of books ... especially the gossipy one.

Movies don't get any better than the Coen Brothers.

Music is just sort of background noise to me now since I lost hearing in my right ear. Jackson Browne is pretty cool, though.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I stood in front of the White House with a huge crowd shouting "Jail to the Chief" the night Nixon resigned.

I've been to Little Diomede in the Bering Sea and watched the islanders butcher a walrus.

I had a private conversation with Bill Clinton once.

I met Rudolph Nureyev in his dressing room at the Kennedy Center.

I have a friend who still loves me after 29 years together.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm really good at math, science, writing and making a killer chili.
