ABOUT ME

I am a kind, friendly, witty, yogi. I teach 5th graders reading and writing in Harlem, New York, but live in Brooklyn. I've been a teacher for six years. When I'm not trying to convince children to be kind to one another and to enjoy writing, I am usually doing headstands.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that human beings have an infinite capacity for love and compassion if they open themselves up to it. I believe in energy and its ability to be transferred. I believe in being present and hopeful.

Interests

In my free time I love (no surprise here) getting lost in a good book or writing. I love practicing yoga and learning about yogic philosophies. I love reading up about political issues surrounding women's rights and social justice. I love intellectualizing over wine and good food. I obviously love to travel and learn about different cultures and people.

Music, Movies, and Books

This is a really intimidating question. I love all kinds of music...I tend to get stuck on an album until I play it so much I can't suffer it again (or at least for another six months).

My favorite types of books tend to be gritty memoirs. I also love anything contemporary that will make me laugh.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent a month volunteering in tanzania once and on a weekend safari an entire pack of mama and baby elephants crossed the road right in front of me. It was beautiful and incredible and terrifying.
