About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enter my house as a partial stranger leave as a friend and fellow traveller

ABOUT ME

I am a quality host that reflects the true spirit of hospitality. This is verified by my many positive references and detailed profile.

I actually live at Cooloola Cove, which is about 15 kms from Rainbow Beach. Through negotiation , I often collect and return guests to the bus stop in Rainbow Beach. Some of the guests are willing to make a modest contribution for fuel for this pickup and return service, which also includes local sightseeing.

I enjoy hosting surfers that have these qualities and attributes;

1. Committed to the true spirit of Couchsurfing rather than just wanting to avoid the cost of a night in a hostel.
2. Can indicate within their initial request, that they have read my profile and references (at least some) and include something that we share and have in common.
3. Indicate that you would like to stay more than one night, so that a good rapport has every chance of developing.
5. Have at least 1 positive references.

I am someone with a wide and diverse range of lived experiences that has made me strong through both triumphs and adversities.
A person who cares about social justice and someone who displays honesty integrity and truthfulness in my dealings with others. I am also fun loving adventurous, with a good sense of humour that is able to laugh at myself. A lover of what is wholesome, real, honest beneficial, and adding value to situations.
Also intelligent, articulate, with proven project management and planning skills. Fascinated with the field of human dynamics and how different people think, related and express themselves. I would be recognised by others as being generous and a gracious host, who can relate quickly to most people that I come in contact with.
I am also altruistic supporting various organisations such a Compassion child sponsorship programme plus others.

PHILOSOPHY

Have a grateful heart for the opportunities and benefits I enjoy and focus on that rather than what I don't have or haven't achieved. I like the following mantra originating from other people but adopted as reflective of my viewpoint on life.

"Live, Love and Leave a Legacy" (Stephen Covey)
"If its going to be, it up to ME" (Ron Barrassi)
"Live the life you love and love the life you live"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like positive, life affirming people that are real and transparent in the motives and actions.
I look for and appreciate character strengths in people, and focus on that rather than any minor faults. I don't like being taken for granted and deceived by someone who is not real.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have met some wonderful young people since beginning and have been assessed by guests as a great host, supported by references they have left. I am keen to continue on this exciting adventure.

Interests

I have a very high quality of life and enjoy some wonderful relationships. I am interested in physical activity doing regular exercise most days. I love great coffee and have a semi commercial machine and grinder at home. I like new technology and keep up to date with things that add value to my life. I am interested in philosophy and how various patterns of belief and behaviours have evolved. I don't like unpleasant surprises, but that does not mean that I am rigid, and that I cannot enjoy spontaneity.

Music, Movies, and Books

Wide range of music with some older classics like Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Queen, but also Adele, Lady Gaga, Ed Sheeran, The Killers and many more.
I am a sucker for movies where good overcome evil and where the strength of personal or group spirit is evident.
I don't like horror movies or those with supernatural themes.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Multiple time with stunning scenery like the Carnarvon Gorge in Queensland, the Red Centre in Alice Springs, the West Coast wilderness areas in the Franklin river in Tasmania and the south island of New Zealand. I have recently return from a 28 days trip to Vietnam. and 6 weeks in Europe visiting Barcelona, Lisbon Porto and much of southern France finishing off in Paris.
The joy of seeming my children grow and develop into wonderful human beings with some familiar traits but also being wonderfully on uniquely different.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like people that want to stay, not merely to avoid the cost of paying for a hostel, but are interested in meeting and communicating with new people who have had different environment and experiences which may be new or often shared. I consider the stay over several days as an opportunity to exchange ideas, thoughts and experiences, for mutual benefit. To have fun, laugh, relax, appreciate and dream.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Intelligent articulate conversation, a sense of humor, a lot of like experience, good coffee, and a safe environment that will enable any guest to relax and be their best self.
