ABOUT ME

I try to be friendly to everyone I meet, and I love talking to people. I love nature, singing, art and TED Talks. Grew up in a multicultural environment and love learning things about new cultures. Looking forward to meeting new people through couchsurfing :)

PHILOSOPHY

I'm a vegetarian and my philosophy is "If it makes people happy and doesn't hurt anyone - it's cool with me"

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now the place I'm living in is just too small and crowded to be able to host anyone - there isn't a couch to sleep on as it's a 8 room flat housing 5 students (5 small rooms, 2 bathrooms, 1 kitchen). I wouldn't really feel comfortable giving permission for people to come stay on behalf of my other flatmates. However I'd be happy to meet up with anyone in town and show them around :)

I love painting so if you want to do some art together I'd love that. I studied oceanography at University so I have a solid grounding in ocean currents, climatic events, paleo-oceanography, etc. This is actually a really cool area - we got taught how slight variations in sunlight create environmental events of amazing scale - from blooms of phytoplankton that can be seen from space to the Indian monsoon. We got taught a rough version of the beginning of the Solar System, how the changing cycles of earth's orbit around the sun change the climate of our planet over millions of years and how the bathymetry of the Florida keys affects the West Coast of Scotland. I love talking about the ocean and how our climate has changed over millions of years, so if you're interested just ask :) I did a 10 day Buddhist Vipassana meditation course in India so if you're interested I could tell you what to expect from the experience. I was a Christian for 15 years so I can also chip in my thoughts on Christianity. My Dad works in International Development and I got brought up in Malawi so I'm always happy to talk about African politics and the wonderful things about Africa.
