About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To travel the world and try to bring people together with free software.

ABOUT ME

At the end of the day I'm a simple guy who likes to have interesting discussions with people. I spend a fair amount of time working with computers which I enjoy because it's one of the few jobs where you can be pretty much as weird without anyone minding. When I'm not working I really enjoy looking for new restaurants and craft beers that I haven't tried. I really like looking for clues about a culture in foreign films although I'm by no means an authority on film. I also really enjoy longboarding and riding my bike which unfortunately I feel compelled to lug around wherever I go.

PHILOSOPHY

People are generally going to do so it's pretty pointless to try and do anything but follow the Tao

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now I want to focus on traveling around and meeting new people but one day when I'm older and probably have less hair I hope to have a place of my own to host surfers.

Music, Movies, and Books

Last.fm keeps tabs on my music beause I've never been able to explain my taste even to myself (Zooyork350)

I love foreign films especially gangster films from Asia...I thought Infernal Affairs was a million times better than The Departed.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

* Scraped together enough money from my minimum wage job in college to buy a passport and go to Versailles for a few weeks around New Years.

* Driven alone across America from Vermont to Los Angeles; driven up the Pacific Coast highway from Los Angeles to Seattle.

* Made a two line commit to the mainline Linux kernel source code.

Teach, Learn, Share

Want to Learn: to swim (a bigger problem then you might imagine), to cook amazing Indian food, to coleman slide on my longboard, to skank to ska all day long.

Willing to Teach: my unqualified opinion about how to think about working with computers, that longboarding isn't actually that hard or scary, how to figure how much pizza there is given its radius (I once taught the owner of a pizza shop this), anything else I might happen to know.
