About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Working on an eventual transition from our anchored lifestyle to one of a more full time motorhome travelling adventure.
ABOUT ME
We are at the threshold of our golden years but still have a lot of living yet to do. Joe retired early from commercial flying and mostly enjoying tinkering in my shop while waiting for Cathy to get tired of her winery tasting room job (reads passion) before we get more serious about what to do next. Like to ride our road bike, play with technology and enjoy good music, wine and friends
PHILOSOPHY
Good enuf, ain't good enuf. There's always a right way if you look hard enuf and take your lead from nature.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Became interested in CS as it represents what is good in people... a willingness to share their space, experience and time. In particular I am intrigued by the possiblity of finding a way to integrate the CS concept with the RV community and try to develop a niche which would focus on driveway surfing. It would be great to try to foster the idea of having a designator within the CS profiles that would indicate whether the host was able to accomodate an RV at their property. Fairly level, firm ground space of approx 12' wide by 25' to 45' long. From basic dry camp which would only allow someplace to park up to commercial park type amenities such as water and electrical hookup (possibly for a use fee?), cable hookup and maybe even the ability to dump holding tanks in a convenient sewer clean out. This would be less intrusive for the hosts and a great benefit to the RV'er who is facing ever increasing campsight fees in the strained economy. One of the very special things about the RV lifestyle is that you meet a whole new neighborhood of friends each time you pull into a new site and it seems like the same traits would integrate well with the CS community.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We were pleased to host our first surfer, a very pleasant musician from Montreal name Jon Cohen on Mar. 8, 2011. We enjoyed attending his local concert at one of our favorite funky venues but with his hectic tour schedule and a need to catch up on some quality shuteye, we were only sad that we could not show him more of our great central coast area as we loaded him onto the bus the next morning. Look forward to future travelers and seeking out our own road trips.
Interests
Music, Flying, Beaches and sunsets, Good Wine (although Joe loosely describes "good" wine as the one that is open :), fixing broken things vs. tossing in the landfill, lovin on our Dachsund, Mazy.
