About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Minding the gap between the life I dream of and the life I live.

ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in a small beach town on the Gulf of Mexico in Florida, USA. I grew up with an excellent family support system. I got my traveling bug and my love of outdoor adventures from my parents, who would take my sister and I on vacations every summer and school holiday.

When I was sixteen I decided to take my first trip without the family and volunteered to work at a kids' summer camp in Romania. I thoroughly enjoyed this combination of traveling for pleasure as well as volunteer opportunities and did it off and on for the next four years. During this same time I had the best years of my life studying education at university in Florida.

After graduating, I moved to Tanzania where I am now a Grade 2 teacher at an international school. I'm having a wonderful time getting to experience long-term, day-to-day life in a new culture. I enjoy traveling around Tanzania and all the other places my journeys have taken me.

PHILOSOPHY

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
--so simple yet so challenging

"Nothing in the world has ever been done by well-rounded people. The good work is done by people with jagged, broken edges because those edges cut things and leave an imprint, a design." ~Harry Crew

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm a baby couch surfer, just crawling around exploring but I'm excited to get up and start traveling the world meeting others in the CS community and welcoming into my town those who share this CS mission.
