Pronounce perfectly "au-dessous" et "au-dessus"
I live in Paris (not sure if that's clear elsewhere in my profile), where I spend most of my time getting lost on my Velib (free bikes here). When I'm not asking people for directions, I produce short documentaries, teach English to executives at La Défense, and write tons (screenplays and play, mostly). I also take tons of photos with an old '70s medium-format camera that is an ideal conversation starter almost anywhere. And I also spend a lot of time eavesdropping, in an effort to improve my French.
Personal Philosophy. Oh boy. In a few sentences. For now, I'll say, don't sweat all the little stuff, pay your taxes, and the rest of the time, expand your mind and your heart, ideally at the same time, and ideally in a way that touches someone else.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Honestly, I'm just beginning. In San Francisco, I had an absurd housing situation (my roommate had teenage kids, among other challenges), and it just wasn't set up well for Couch Surfers, unfortunately, Now, in Paris, I'm trying to find a way to do it. iSubletting is illegal here, and the concierages here aren't as welcoming as, it seems, most coach surfers hosts. But let me get back to you about surfing chez moi à Paris.
Nothing yet. Though this week I'm hoping to convince a Toulasain(e) to let me in from the (cold, rain, heat, I never know with the sud-ouest temps).
Actually, one of my favorites was in Toulouse. In 2003, I started writing to random people in Toulouse, hoping I could convince them to let me rent their place for a week. Finally, someone, a stranger of a stranger of a stranger replied and said that I should drop by. I stayed for a week on a bed and she spent half that time showing me around Toulouse and the area, including a weekend in Castres. We're still good friends.
